Dermatologic Surgery

Consists in surgical removal of benign and malign lesions in skin, scalp and nails.

  • Epidermal Cyst: It is a benign tumor on the skin that may occur anywhere on the body and their treatment is surgery.

  • Skin cancer (Basal cell carcinoma, Squamous cell carcinoma and Melanoma): is the uncontrolled growth of abnormal skin cells. It occurs when unrepaired DNA damage to skin cells (most often caused by ultraviolet radiation from sunshine or tanning beds) triggers mutations, or genetic defects, that lead the skin cells to multiply rapidly and form malignant tumors. The recommended skin cancer treatment is surgery and monitoring.

  • Nevus (Mole): this term can be used to describe virtually any mole. For aesthetic reasons or when is dysplasic, it can be treated with surgery.

  • Onychocryptosis (ingrown toenail): a condition in which a corner or side of a toenail grows into the skin, resulting in pain, redness, swelling and sometimes infection. When it is severe, surgical treatment is required.

  • Pincer nails: is the transverse overcurvature of the nail that can be painful. The recommended treatment of pincer nail is surgery.
